Driving and drop-off
Enter the port at Dock Gate 4. At the first roundabout take the 3rd exit, continue about 100 yards and turn left. The terminal is straight ahead.
Taxis and private drop-offs can stop outside the terminal. For what happens next, from the drop-off lanes and bag drop to security and boarding, read our step-by-step guide to the day.
Getting in through Dock Gate 4
Ocean and QEII terminals share Dock Gate 4, and traffic lights on the main road control the way in. On busy days the hold-up is usually those lights rather than the gate itself. Turning left into the gate flows steadily, but the right-turn light is short, so when there's a queue only one or two cars turning right get in for every fifteen or so turning left. If your route gives you the choice, come in from the side that lets you turn left.
Past the gatehouse there's a mini-roundabout, and Ocean Terminal is the third exit. On busy days its queue can stretch back to the roundabout.
Walking and public transport
Ocean Terminal is the only terminal with park & walk car parks outside the port. Triangle Parking is about a 4-minute walk, and Ocean Way Car Park in Ocean Village also sells park & walk. Both let you keep your keys.
On foot it's 0.2 miles (about 4 minutes) from Dock Gate 4, or 1.5 miles (about 30 minutes) from Southampton Central. The Platform Tavern bus stop (routes 19, 19A, U1A, U1C and U1E) and the Southampton NOCS stop (U1A and U1E) are each about a 7-minute walk. QuayConnect runs every 35 minutes from Southampton Central to Town Quay, about 8 minutes' walk away.
Upcoming calls at the Ocean Terminal
From the port's provisional schedule, published up to Fri 29 Jan 2027. Times are the ship's arrival and departure; boarding times are on your cruise documents. A busy day means 3 or more cruise ships are in port, so allow 1–2 hours to board. For every terminal at once, see the cruise ship schedule.
